Maker of expensive exploding laptops and gizmos, Apple has applied for a set of patents which has got the Jobs’ Mob koolaid drinking press all a flutter. It seems that the makers of the iPhone have filed a set patents for a Wii-style wireless controller that looks to be made for the Apple TV.

Of course it will mean that people will have to buy the Apple TV, which has a similar user base as the Microsoft Zune. Not that you would tell that by reading the Apple press which describes the Apple TV as a “fairly powerful product” for what little it does. The filing, which describes a “remote wand for controlling the operations of a media system,” specifically mentions the Apple TV as a reference.

The Apple press claims that it will be a glorious day when Apple enters the games market. Of course it has never managed to do that so far, so why Nintendo, Microsoft or Sony should lose much sleep over such a thing they don’t say.

The YouTube app is available in the App Store for Apple TV (4th and 5th generations). This version of the YouTube app makes it easier to find popular content across YouTube on topics like comedy, gaming, and news. It also includes new features like video previews.

Note: YouTube relies on VP9 for distribution and playback of 4K videos. VP9 is the industry-leading open-source code. Using VP9 results in less buffering, faster startup, and higher video quality. The Apple TV 4K model (5th generation) does not support VP9 at this time, and therefore we currently can’t deliver 4K resolution on this device.

Sign in to YouTube on Apple TV

If you’re using the YouTube app on Apple TV (3rd, 4th, and 5th generation), use the directions below to sign in with your Google Account.

Sign in with your mobile device

  1. Make sure your mobile device is on the same Wi-Fi network as your TV.
  2. Select Sign in with your mobile device.
  3. Open the YouTube app on your phone.
  4. Follow the instructions to sign in to your TV.

Sign in directly on your TV

  1. Select Sign in on your TV.
  2. Use the keyboard to enter your email/phone for your Google account.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Verify your account.

Sign in with a web browser

Hiện tại, Apple TV vẫn còn khá lạ lẫm với phần lớn người dùng. Tuy nhiên với những ai đang sử dụng sản phẩm này của Apple, việc jailbreak Apple TV cũng quang trọng như jailbreak các thiết bị iOS vậy. Bài viết này sẽ hướng dẫn các bạn cách đơn giản nhất để jailbreak Apple TV 4 với ứng dụng liberTV.

Trước tiên, bạn cần phải đáp ứng được các yêu cầu dưới đây để tiến hành quá trình jailbreak.

Yêu cầu:

  • Một chiếc Apple TV 4 đang hoạt động trên tvOS 10.0 – 10.1 (phiên bản cho tvOS 9 sẽ được cập nhật sau, tvOS 10.1.1 sẽ không thể jailbreak)
  • Cáp kết nối USB-type C để kết nối Apple TV với máy tính cá nhân của bạn
  • Một chiếc máy tính cá nhân (Mac, Linux, Windows)
  • Ứng dụng liberTV và Cydia Impactor (đường dẫn tải ứng dụng sẽ có trong bài viết)

Hướng dẫn jailbreak Apple TV 4 với liberTV

Bước 1: Kết nối Apple TV của bạn thông qua cáp kết nối USB-type C

Bước 2: Tải về công cụ Cydia Impactor cho máy tính cá nhân của bạn.

Bước 3: Tải về ứng dụng jailbreak liberTv về máy tính cá nhân của bạn.

Bước 4: Mở ứng dụng Cydia Impactor và chắc chắn rằng nó đang kết nối với Apple TV của bạn. Kéo file liberTv vừa tải về vào ứng dụng Cydia Impactor để cài đặt.

Bước 5: Nhập ID Apple và mật khẩu của bạn để tiến hành quá trình cài đặt (tương tự như cài đặt ứng dụng trên iOS). Cydia Impactor sẽ tiến hành cài đặt ứng dụng trên Apple TV của bạn.

Bước 6: Sau khi cài đặt hoàn tất. Bạn ngắt kết nối Apple TV với máy tính cá nhân. Kết nối Apple Tv với màn hình TV thông qua cáp kết nối HDMI.

Bước 7: Ứng dụng liberTV sẽ xuống hiện trên màn hình TV của bạn

Bước 8: Ứng dụng liberTV sẽ đưa ra một số tùy chọn để thiết lập trên Apple TV của bạn. Bạn có thể kích hoạt toàn bộ để sử dụng đầy đủ các tính năng hoặc chọn các tính năng phù hợp nhất với bạn.

Bước 9: Sau khi lựa chọn xong, bạn chọn vào mục “Do it!” để bắt đầu quá trình jailbreak.

Bước 10: Sẽ có 2 trường hợp có thể xảy ra sau đó.

  • Trường hợp 1: Thiết bị của bạn sẽ báo rằng quá trình jailbreak thất bại và thiết bị sẽ tự khởi động lại. Nếu xảy ra trường hợp này, bạn chỉ cần quay lại ứng dụng liberTV và tiến hành jailbreak lại.
  • Trường hợp 2: Thiết bị báo jailbreak thành công. Bây giờ bạn có thể SSH vào thiết bị của bạn với Dropbear, ứng dụng sideload,…

Apple Arcade brings 100 games that you can play on your iPhone , iPad and Apple TV . But tapping and dragging on a glass display isn’t always the most satisfying way to play games like Shinsekai Into the Depths or Sneaky Sasquatch — using a wireless controller is a million times better. Luckily, iOS 13, iPadOS 13 and TVOS 13, add support Sony’s DualShock 4 and Xbox One S  wireless controllers, which means that you’ll be able to use them to play scores of games on your Apple device.

Apple added support for both Xbox and PlayStation 4 wireless controllers to iOS 13, iPadOS 13 and tvOS 13.

Apple made the process to connect your controller to an iPhone, iPad or Apple TV simple and easy. PS4 and Xbox One controllers should work with most games. There’s no word whether Apple will bring support for the Nintendo Switch Pro wireless controller like it did for PS4 and Xbox One controllers. 

One interesting detail is that you can connect multiple wireless controllers to a single device. I was able to connect and Xbox One S controller and a PS4 one with my iPhone at the same time. However, games that take advantage of local multiple player gameplay are sparse.

Connect a PS4 controller to your iPhone, iPad, Apple TV

Let’s start with the PS4 controllers. The first thing you want to do is to make sure your controller is all charged up. Next on an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad go to Settings then Bluetooth. On an AppleTV go to Settings > Remotes and Devices > Bluetooth.

Load Error

Once there, hold the PlayStation button on and share button at the same time on your controller. You’ll see DualShock 4 Wireless Controller pop up in your Bluetooth list. Simply tap on it to connect. Once you’re connected, the PS4 controller will turn pink.

If you don’t see the controller appear, make sure that you’re out of range of your PS4.

Apple TV+ entered a crowded streaming market when it debuted last year. It’s been slowly increasing its presence by offering exclusive TV series, signing movie deals, and expanding its presence on TVs. This week, Apple announced its Apple TV app, and its Apple TV+ streaming service will roll out to Vizio SmartCast TVs in both the United States and Canada.

The Apple TV app is the conduit for all things Apple. It allows users to stream content from Apple TV+, subscribe to a la carte Apple TV channels, and browse iTunes for movies and TV shows available to rent or purchase. iTunes has a deep library with over 100,000 movies and television shows.

Vizio TV owners can download the Apple TV app and install it on their SmartCast TVs.

From now until October 16, owners can sign up for Apple TV+ and receive three free months of service. Once the free trial expires, users can choose to subscribe for $4.99 per month.

Apple TV+ does support Family Sharing, so a single subscription is also accessible to your family group members.

The Apple TV app and Apple TV+ service are already available on the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and, of course, the Apple TV. It can also be found on select Roku and Amazon Fire TV media boxes and Samsung and LG smart TVs.

Later this year, the app is expected to debut on Sony TVs, too.

Problème de connexion

Depuis quelques semaine la télécommande de mon Apple TV ne fonctionne plus! J’ai alors téléchargé l’appli qui jusqu’à il y a 3 jours fonctionnait très bien mais depuis impossible de me connecter à l’Apple tv il ne le trouve plus pourtant tout est connecté sur le même réseau wifi !

Apple calls the Apple TV a “hobby” because it isn’t a big seller. But for a bustling community of hackers, jailbreaking and tinkering with the set-top box is the real hobby.

The recent release of the second-generation Apple TV is revitalizing a group effort to crack open the set-top box and expand on its capabilities with third-party software. In the next month or two, the rebellious coders say they hope to open an underground app store for the device, just as hackers did for the popular iPhone before Apple opened its official App Store.

“The Apple TV has been jailbroken for less than a month, and the amount of progress that’s been made on [hacking] it so far is absolutely phenomenal,” said Scott Davilla, a programmer who is working to get the Boxee TV platform running on the Apple TV.

Apple’s original Apple TV was cracked years ago, but there was relatively low enthusiasm in modifying the device because of some nagging technical hurdles. Hacking the first Apple TV required using a “patch stick” – installing software on a bootable USB drive that broke through the set-top box’s restrictions – and not all USB flash drives booted properly. Also, interest in modding the original Apple TV waned over time: Hacking the device’s software required a Mac running an older version of the Mac OS X operating system (10.4.7), and later versions of OS X broke software used to test Apple TV apps on a desktop computer.

However, this time around, the Apple TV jailbreak community, called Awkward TV, believes that hacking Apple’s set-top box will be much more popular and energetic. This is thanks largely to the fact that the second-generation Apple TV runs iOS, the same mobile operating system that powers the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Hacking the device will be much easier for users: The Apple TV requires connecting with a computer by a USB cable and running existing jailbreak software to break its restrictions, just like users did with the iPhone. (In other words, the annoying patch-stick method is no more.)

And besides, hackers can’t resist the allure of modifying a $100 device into the set-top box of their dreams – a path that carries much less risk than, say, tampering with a pricier Mac Mini or a less aesthetically pleasing Windows PC.

Also, a major difference to the new Apple TV hacking scene is that many of these coders have been making apps for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch – so now, the community is much bigger, diverse and more experienced. A lot of the groundwork has already been laid by iOS jailbreakers, and third-party apps served through the underground app store Cydia should be compatible with the device.
